We're looking for “big ideas” that will help you farm better, smarter, and more sustainably. Whether your idea is innovative or an adaptation of current practices to open up new markets or improve sustainability, we want to hear from you. Simply tell us what your “big idea” is that needs community funding.
Before applying, please review the application process below and the eligibility requirements. Priority will be given to projects that can be completed with the Funds to Farms funding. Applicants should expect the Grand Prize to be at least $2,500. If your project requires more funding, please state how the rest of your funds will be raised.
To apply, complete the online form and follow the instructions for sending your idea. You may also mail in the printable form below with your project idea and budget (instructions for these are provided in the form). Applications must be submitted online or received by October 14, 2016 to be eligible for this round of funding.
Up to five applicants will be selected to present their proposals at an event open to the public at Free Range Brewing. Finalists will be chosen through a blind-review process based on the following criteria:
Perceived need (20%)
Business impact (40%)
The applicant’s commitment to sustainable agricultural practices (40%).
Finalists will be notified by October 24. They will give a five-minute talk about their farm business and their idea at a community event the evening of November 13 at Free Range Brewing in NoDa. Applicants who are selected as finalists should think about what they can do or include to make their presentation engaging.
